Compression for Work
In the workplace there are many professions that require you to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Nurses, doctors hairdressers, bartenders, assembly line workers all spend large fractions of their working day standing and if you find yourself behind a desk, wheel or screen then you are likely to experience extended sitting.
Unfortunately, without interventions such as compression products this can result in the onset of a number of medical conditions.
sitting
Keeping the body in an upright position requires considerable muscular effort. Standing effectively reduces the blood supply to the loaded muscles and insufficient blood flow accelerates the onset of fatigue and causes pain in the muscles of the legs, back and neck.
The worker suffers not only muscular strain but other discomforts also. Prolonged and frequent standing causes blood to pool in the legs and feet and when this occurs continually over a long period, it can result in inflammation of the veins.
This inflammation may progress over time to chronic and painful varicose veins.
standing
Research has linked sitting for long periods of time with a number of health concerns. They include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, and unhealthy cholesterol levels.
Sitting for long periods can also lead to varicose veins or spider veins due to the pooling of blood in your legs. In rare cases, these conditions can lead to blood clots, which can cause serious problems like deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
